2012 Farewell Tour – The Digital Scrapbook Teacher
I have been asked many questions about my recent decision to make 2012 the last year I teach hands-on classes at the U.S. scrapbook conventions. Most of your questions are answered below:
The answer to this question can be pretty much summed up by a 1981 song by Dan Fogelberg. The song, Same Old Lang Syne recounts his experience running into an old girlfriend in a grocery store on Christmas Eve. A poignant line in the song is “….the fans are great, but the traveling is hell”.
We love our fans (yes, we have fabulous digi groupies), but I have to admit, the traveling is hell!
I am announcing our Farewell tour before the first show of the year so that we are able to say goodbye to all the great friends we’ve made across the country.
I also didn’t want someone to say to me later “I wish I knew you wouldn’t be coming back in 2013”. If you’ve been thinking of taking one of our classes at a scrapbook convention make sure you do it in 2012.
But you love teaching, won’t you miss it?
Yes, I love teaching but I can’t say the same for camping out in airports, looking for lost luggage, dealing with delayed product shipments and missing important events and celebrations with family and friends. The Digital Scrapbook Teacher has grown so quickly I spend more of my time negotiating contracts than I do teaching right now.
I am offering class kits complete with videos and online classes now so I will still be teaching. I may offer our successful Digi-Degree Boot Camps in 2013 but haven’t had any time to work that far ahead. I am also considering teaching in some far off and exotic lands!
What will you do with your spare time?
Haha! I have never had spare time in my life! Should I find a few extra minutes in my day I may actually scrapbook…what a concept!
I have worked with some amazing scrapbook manufacturers and retail store owners and plan to continue. I have also had some offers to teach on cruises or in Europe and Australia and may pursue some of those adventures. I also plan to continue my blog and Photoshop Elements tips newsletter.
